I’ve got news! Big news which might be news to you if you have recently joined us, while some of you may have already voted and even helped me pick out a dress for the awards, (priorities aye!) Thank you for all for everything!
I have been shortlisted for the Fortnum & Mason Awards 2024, as Content Creator of the year! Can you believe it? When the world makes you feel like it’s about numbers and how many viral posts you have, here I am being chosen for such an award. A prestigious award that celebrates excellence in food and drink, writing, media and broadcasting. The nominees are those who encourage us to enjoy, experience and broaden our understanding of food and drink through their work.
It is thrilling and an honour to be recognised. This really encourages me to keep up with my storytelling and sharing, especially a part of the world many know little or nothing about. Honestly, sometimes I ask myself, “Does anyone care? Who is ready? Who is listening?” A culture and people that, although are embedded and influenced a lot by music, fashion and art, are still not wholly recognised in much of mainstream media, publishing and in our homes.
Including the personality of the year category with industry heavyweights from Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein, Mary Berry, Big Zu, The Hairy Bikers (sadly David Myers recently passed away) and more, this is the only other category voted for by YOU, the public! We have come a long way to breaking those walls in mainstream media, and in publishing, as we tell our own stories and not what the suits and ‘powers that be’ decide is best for you.
I am proud and even more empowered to keep inspiring, empowering, entertaining and educating cooks across the world and with a growing community like ours, the future is bright! It always was. You give me such strength!
