Masterclass at Jamie Oliver Cookery School in London
See you at our West African Feast in London
Friends!
Remember when Jamie Oliver chose Africana as Book of the Month in his Book club with over 60,000 cooks and food lovers? I spent a whole month cooking and chatting with thousands of cooks from across the world. What a wild, fun and inspiring experience. People sharing their pictures and videos of recipes cooked, lots of sticky notes, and someone shared a full page of notes she has written for recipe planning. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was such a blessing! Even the person that wrote, “This book is a piece of shit!” made me feel so happy. (He was not as polite as I am to write the word shit. He used an actual emoji to depict the word) And then came new friends to my defense, many now part of our community. Thank you so much for your support!
We cooked the book, from all three Jollof recipes, to Celebration Tagines, that revelatory Oat Banana Bread with Dates, variations of Lamb, Aubergine and Chicken Yassa with those sunshine flavours bursting full of citrus, Dijon and caramelised onions and more. We baked the marvellous Malva pudding in different shapes and sizes. We embarked on a worldwide plantain hunt. It was such fun, with memories I will never forget.
As if that was not enough excitement for the year, Jamie invited me to spend a day as Guest Chef at Jamie Oliver’s HQ, meeting and feeding over 100 people behind all the magic you see in his books, TV and more. It was lovely to see that it truly takes a village.
Masterclass at Jamie Oliver Cookery School
